William Clark MacLellan was born in New Glasgow, NS and then moved to Cornwall, ON. It was from Cornwall that Bill went off to McGill University for post secondary education. First, Macdonald College for Agriculture, and Presbyterian College, Montreal for theology. Following ordination, he took up the extension charge of University Church, Toronto.

Bill and Lynda Mersereau, of Montreal, were married during the first year of their four years in Downsview. Their second home was in Ottawa where Bill became a reserve chaplain while ministering to Westminster Church. Three years later, they joined the Chaplain Branch on a full time basis and postings included – Calgary, AB; Cornwallis, NS; Baden-Soellingen, Germany; Montreal, QC; Borden, ON; and then back to Ottawa.

After a 25-year career in the Canadian Forces, Bill retired and closed the loop by returning to Toronto in September of 2002 as the minister of Rosedale.

Bill and Lynda now have two granddaughters, Paige and Katelyn. Their proud parents are Mark, Bill and Lynda' son, and his wife, Stacey.

The Rev. Bill MacLellan was RPC's minister from 2002 until his retirement at the end of May this year (2011).

In this short film, Bill discusses some of the challenges facing the church and expresses his belief that, by building on its past traditions, an intentional congregation will be uniquely positioned to experience growth and vitality. (You can also listen to Bill talk about the St. James Town coalition here .)

RPC's congregation extend a heartfelt thanks to Bill and his charming and extremely hard working wife Lynda, for their support and inspiration during their time at Rosedale and wish them all the blessings of a long and happy retirement.
